Marvel Cinematic Universe About to Hit $20 Billion USD in Box Office
Largely due to ‘Avengers: Endgame.’
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is right on the verge of making $20 billion USD in the box office. According to reports, the MCU’s current total is at $19.983 billion USD worldwide, and it will most likely surpass that mark tonight.
The news comes as no surprise largely due to the unbelievable debut of Avengers: Endgame. The film made $1.2 billion USD during its opening weekend, outclassing its Infinity War predecessor by almost 90% and becoming the eight MCU film to earn more than $1 billion USD globally. Additionally, the other films in the Avengers franchise, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Iron Man 3 and Captain America: Civil War all grossed more than $1 billion USD worldwide. Because MCU sequels tend to do better in the box office than the first film, the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home will most likely break the bank when it premieres this July.
Avengers: Endgame is now showing in theaters.
In related news, the Russo Brothers explained why the film didn’t include a post-credit scene.
