PUMA & Karl Lagerfeld Collaborate on Posthumous Polka Dot Roma Release
Continuing the late designers legacy.
PUMA has unveiled its next collaboration for Spring/Summer 2019, this time around working with the late Karl Lagerfeld on its unisex Roma and women’s Roma Amor silhouettes.
The posthumous collaboration comes after Lagerfeld’s passing in February, capturing his playful and youthful energy through the collection’s use of bold patterns and contrasting tones. The unisex Roma silhouette sees a black leather upper adorned with circular Karl Lagerfeld logos and white polka dots — a color scheme synonymous with the late designer.
The Roma is rounded off with a blue sock liner, Karl Lagerfeld x PUMA co-branding on the tongue and a tonal white and grey foam sole unit. Previous collections between the two saw subtler takes on PUMA classics, such as a Lagerfeld-approved black and white PUMA Suede from FW18.
The women’s Roma Amor elevates the classic Roma design with a thick “KARL LAGERFELD” branded sole and all-over circular Lagerfeld branding. Its satin-finished upper is again adorned in white polka dots and is complemented by millennial pink branding and interior lining.
Both pairs will retail for $130 USD and will be available for via a pre-launch on KARL.com and PUMA.com on 15 May, with a global release on 16 May at select Karl Lagerfeld stores and PUMA stockists.
In other news, The Met has collaborated with the late fashion designer and more to release a line of new collectible merchandise, following this year’s camp theme.
