After introducing the court-ready All-Star Pro BB, Converse enlisted sneaker design legend Tinker Hatfield to aid in crafting a trio of lifestyle-centric silhouettes. Inspired by Nike’s tentpole sports, like basketball and running, Hatfield serves up three debut Star Series shoes.

Having already left his mark on the All Star Modern HTM and Auckland Modern Low Top HTM, Hatfield knows a thing or two about updating Converse’s classic models. The Star Series silhouettes will be offered in three iterations: the BB, RN and UT, each inspired by one of three core Nike tenets (basketball, running and utility, respectively). For Summer ‘19, Converse is unleashing the first two models, executed in monochrome makeups.

Offered in clean white or black colorways tinged with orange and green, the Star Series BB offers minimalist detailing across its ballistic mesh upper. Though it’s not as court-ready as the All-Star Pro, the Star Series BB is comfortable both on the hardwood or on the streets, with an open tongue construction for an elevated fit. Diamond textures on the rubber outsole sit beneath a comfy Cushion midsole, allowing for both sturdy grip and all-day comfort.

Taking cues from heritage running silhouettes, the Star Series RN sports a lower profile than the BB, making it ideal for jetting around town. The shoe will debut in a orange-accented black colorway, complementing the similarly-toned BB. Like the BB, the RN also sports lateral and medial-side Chevron branding, with a sleek upper and rear pull tab for easy foot access.

The Star Series BB and RN hit Nike SNKRS and Converse’s SoHo NYC outpost on May 28. Expect the Star Series UT, seen here in a white mid-top Cordura edition, to arrive in late 2019.
