Oscar Murillo Touches on Globalization With Multilayered Artworks
A selection of his new paintings will go on display in London.

Colombian artist Oscar Murillo is known for his progressive practice that comprises paintings, works on paper, sculptures, installations, and videos. Moreover, Murillo is noted for his multi-layered compositions that include text, recycled materials, and fragments found in his London studio. With these wide-ranging works, Murillo aims to examine similarities amongst international cultures.
His forthcoming exhibition titled “Manifestation” at David Zwirner largely focuses on his prolific painting techniques. “On view for the first time will be a new body of work initiated by Murillo in 2018 that takes a more deliberate approach to the layering of information—one that is concerned simultaneously with erasure and retention, mimicking the ways information is often received in today’s world,” said David Zwirner in a public statement.

In other standout presentations, Museum Voorlinden in the Netherlands recently launched a major presentation of architectural installations by iconic South Korean artist, Do Ho Suh.
