Burberry's RS5 Sneaker Fuses Traditional Hiking With Hi-Tech Function
The SS19 runway sneaker hits the shelves.

After dropping its chunky RS5 in “Triple Black,” British fashion house Burberry returns for the latest high-top rendition of the silhouette, which was spotted previously on the label’s SS19 runway. This time around, the RS5 silhouette is paneled with sections of premium mesh, neoprene and nubuck, riffing on vintage design cues of traditional hiking shoes while infusing modern parts for optimal performance. High-collar ankle paddings are added to the neck of the shoe, graced with a single pair of silvery lace hooks. The tongue is made up of mesh, overlaid by ripstop eyelets at the center and brown crisscrossed laces. BURBERRY patch logos are sewn over pull tabs found at the top of the tongue, complemented by its matching heel tab. Black leather swatches are then placed at the heel and the front toe cap, matching its tonal, semi-translucent midsole. Hits of mustard-yellow leather, beige ripstop and chestnut-brown ballistic nylon appear at the sidewalls to round things out while another highlighted detail is BURBERRY’s “TB” monogram subtly stamped at the lower heel in red. Other parts like hidden zippers, a rugged outsole and BURBERRY logomania at the heels finish off the last details of the sneaker.
The BURBERRY RS5 Paneled High-Top Trainers can be found at select stockists such as Matches for $930 USD.
