Watch the First Trailer for the Drake-Produced 'Top Boy' Revival
Featuring Little Simz & Dave.
After Drake debuted the trailer at his London O2 Arena show, Netflix has officially released the first clip of Top Boy. Set to release this fall, the show follows on from the original two series run that ended back in 2013.
The trailer also gives a first look at the confirmed cast list. Fans of the show will be pleased to see key figures from the original show returning, as Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson reprise their roles. Elsewhere, the Drake-produced show also sees a number of UK hip-hop’s great and good, with Dave and Little Simz both set to appear.
Series 3 of the show begins with Dushane (Ashley Walters) returning to London to reclaim his position in the UK drug market. Back in London, Dushane links up with Sully (Kane Robinson) who is returning home following a spell in prison. The two returning characters come up against Jamie (Micheal Ward), a young and hungry gang leader who wants to usurp Dushane and Sully.
Speaking about Top Boy, Walters described it as “a raw, real representation of street culture. It explores how these characters came to make the choices they make, and gives the audience a behind-the-scenes look as to what is happening on our streets today. It needs to be talked about and the show doesn’t shy away from giving us the platform to tell our story. We can’t change things if we do not acknowledge it and understand it first.”
Top Boy has no official release date, although Netflix has confirmed that it will be arriving in Fall 2019.
As well as debuting this trailer, Drake also recently gave a first look at Euphoria, another of his production credits.
