'Magic: The Gathering' Unveils Full 'War of the Spark' Trailer
Hinting at the fate of Liliana Vess.
During this past weekend’s PAX East event, Wizards of the Coast debuted the first-length trailer for War of the Spark, which is also set to be the next expansion of Magic: The Gathering cards.
Coming in at just shy of three-minutes, the trailer is causing fans to go into a frenzy, considering the new visuals played over Linkin’s Park “In The End” are ultimately hinting at the fate of one of the most iconic planeswalkers in all of the game’s lore, Liliana Vess. Elsewhere antagonist Nicol Bolas can be seen ravaging the city with an army full of the undead.
The game’s official synopsis states:
“We have a fight to finish.
Nicol Bolas controls Ravnica. With Liliana Vess under his devious contract, the dragon god’s army of Eternals run free and the guilds have descended into chaos. But Liliana is ready to take back control of her own destiny. Now only the combined power of the Planeswalkers stands between Bolas and the ultimate power he craves.
War of the Spark features 36 Planeswalker cards and a story experience unlike anything Magic fans have played before. The multiverse is at stake. Will you join the fight?”
Interested fans can look for War of the Spark expansion to hit stores on May 3, 2019. A pre-release date is set for April 27. War of the Spark will also release as new content packages for digital card game Magic: The Gathering Arena, which will include a planeswalker in every pack, a first for Magic: The Gathering. It will also mark the beginning of the end of one of the longest-running storylines in TCG‘s history.
