Facebook’s New Feature Helps Explain the Newsfeed
Now you can finally understand the algorithm.
Facebook has debuted a new feature titled “Why am I seeing this post?,” which gives the user information about why that post has appeared on their page. Once a user clicks on the feature — which you can access through the drop-down menu in the top right of the post — they will be shown Facebook’s reasoning for showing them the post.
The different factors that will be revealed include how often you’ve interacted with the post’s author in the past, the types of post you usually interact with and the general popularity of the post in question. The “Why am I seeing this post” function is also set to give you shortcuts to help you choose which posts you see future, including “See First” and “Unfollow” options, as well as a shortcut to your News Feed preferences.
