Designer Yuta Takuman encapsulates her home city of Tokyo with the Nike Air Max 1 “Tokyo Maze.”

Her iteration of the iconic model features an upper covered in embossed monochromatic interlinking lines, with the left shoe using a white base and black detailing and the right taking on the opposite color scheme. The black and white color scheme found on the upper is broken up by the tint on the velcro branding badges on the tongues. Other branding hits come in the form of white midfoot Swooshes and the Nike Air logo on the heels, tied together with rainbow-colored laces. The “Tokyo Maze” rests on top of a black midsole with the iconic Air bubble in red to symbolize the celebrated Tokyo Tower.

Takuman’s design, along with five other silhouettes are part of Nike’s “On Air” contest. Check out the official photos and stay tuned for the official release date and retail price
