New 'Top Gun: Maverick' Trailer Spotlights Tom Cruise's Need for Speed
Miles Teller, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Connelly, and Ed Harris round out the cast.
Over the summer at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, Tom Cruise surprise-shared the teaser trailer for Top Gun: Maverick during Paramount Pictures‘ Terminator: Dark Fate panel. After months of waiting, the studio has now dropped the anticipated film’s first full-length trailer.
Top Gun: Maverick takes place 34 years after the original film, and will see Cruise reprising the iconic role of Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. The storyline will focus on “Maverick” taking over as the new flight instructor of Top Gun, in which he guides Bradley, Goose’s son, who seeks to become a pilot just like his father. The new action-packed trailer features tons of authentic cockpit shots and stunning flight visuals. Check it out above.
The sequel will defiantly be a nostalgia-filled trip for those who are old enough to remember Cruise playing the now iconic fighter pilot. In addition to Cruise, the film stars Miles Teller as Goose’s son, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Connelly, and Ed Harris. Val Kilmer is also expected to reprise his original Top Gun role as Lt. Tom “Iceman” Kazansky.
Along with sharing a new trailer, Top Gun: Maverick also revealed a new poster, seen below, showcasing “Maverick” glancing skyward as he leans against a plane.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski, Top Gun: Maverick is set to hit the big screen on June 26, 2020 in the US and July 17, 2020 in the UK. The original Top Gun released in 1986.
