ACU Shanghai Unveils Limited-to-100 Friends & Family adidas Originals Superstar
Covered in Koi, Crane and Tiger-inspired prints.
Shanghai-based sneaker boutique ACU has given the adidas Originals Superstar a custom friends and family overhaul as the German label readies for the shoe’s 50th anniversary.
While the Three Stripes worked on a number of highly sought-after collaborations with the likes of Blondey McCoy and Prada, ACU takes it one step further with its custom F&F take on the clean classic. The unofficial collaboration is limited to just 100 copies — all of which have been accounted for, given its exclusive nature — and takes on a traditional design featuring artwork inspired by Koi, Tigers and Cranes.
As a result, ACU has adorned the Superstar’s white leather upper with a blue-tinged Crane print on the side panels, colors of the Koi fish on its vamp, tongue and laces, as well as elements of the Tiger throughout. Switching up the sneaker’s classic look is a transparent outsole that showcases Chinese calligraphy and Koi fishes, while a unique box finished with artwork taken from the shoe rounds off this F&F offering.
