Blondey McCoy's adidas Superstar Sneaker to Release This Week (UPDATE)
The see-through shoe will hit stockists on December 14.
UPDATE (December 10, 2019): adidas Skateboarding has officially announced the release of Blondey McCoy’s collaborative Superstar, and shared campaign imagery as well.
Celebrating London’s influential Soho neighborhood — of which McCoy is a native — the shoe’s translucent upper is inspired by sock sneakers and the PVC trench coats that are often seen in the world of high fashion. It’ll be accompanied by a trio of knee-high socks in blue, red and white, each printed with a custom River Thames graphic and equipped with three stripe branding. The red and blue pairs nod to Soho circuses, while the white pair presents a more neutral look.
“Having your name on a shoe is the highest honor you can be awarded” said McCoy. “I wanted to do something that had never been done to [the Superstar] before.”
As mentioned in our original story, the release will occur on adidas.com December 14. The MSRP is set at $110 USD.
ORIGINAL STORY (December 8, 2019):
We first heard reports of Blondey McCoy’s first-ever design of the adidas Superstar silhouette this past July. Since then, there has been little-to-no news of the shoe’s anticipated release. Recently, the multi-talented McCoy took to Instagram to relay that his see-through iteration will release this week.
McCoy’s Superstar silhouette features transparent polyurethane uppers, tonal black three-stripes insignias, and white detailing on the leather tongue, ankle collar, and lace panels. Rounding out the design is “BLONDEY” verbiage on the side panels alongside dark brown midsoles and toe caps.
Expect an official launch at select adidas stockists this December 14.
