PewDiePie Announces Break From YouTube in 2020
“I’m feeling very tired,” the Swedish content creator announced in a new video.
Shortly after being named 2019’s most-viewed YouTube channel with over 4 billion views, Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg will be taking a break from YouTube in the coming year.
In a newly uploaded video entitled YouTube’s New Update Has A BIG FLAW!, the content creator confirmed that he will be stepping back from the video platform when the new year rolls around. “I think now is a great time as any to announce I have special announcement to make. I am taking [a] break from YouTube,” he announced before giving himself a round of applause. “Next year. I wanted to say it in advance because I made up my mind, I’m tired. I’m tired. I’m feeling very tired. I don’t know if you can tell.” He continues, “Just so you know, early next year I’ll be away for a little while. I’ll explain that later, but I wanted to give heads up.”
PewDiePie’s well-deserved break follows a fruitful 2019, with the Swedish personality hitting 100 million subscribers in September and getting married to his long-time girlfriend in August. The reasons for his exit remain under wraps, with fans speculating that the 30-year-old probably wants to spend time with his new wife and start a family, has a big project going on (hence the “I’ll explain that later” statement), or really just enjoy his hard-earned money with a lengthy vacation.
Elsewhere in entertainment, a Power Rangers reboot is reportedly in the works at Paramount Pictures.
