Madison McFerrin Gleams on New 'You + I' EP

Soulful R&B upstart Madison McFerrin — the daughter to Jazz titan Bobby McFerrin — has been one of the most promising new faces within the genre over the past year. After releasing her Finding Foundations: Vol. I and Vol. II EPs last year, she followed with standalone singles “No Room” and “TRY” earlier this year, once again gracing audiences with her gleaming vocals. Now the Brooklyn-based artist has offered up her most promising project yet, her blissful You + I EP.

The project remains soaked with poignant synth work and blissful billows, whereby her graceful vocals relish alongside eloquent chord progressions and warm a capellas. She infuses Jazz and Motown era soul throughout, but doesn’t do so in a way that explicitly calls on a time before her — it feels contemporary, clad with voluptuously-rendered R&B sensibilities.
