CLOT co-founder Edison Chen said his goal with his Jordan collab was to build a bridge between his home country of China and Western civilization. His intention manifests in the Edison Chen x Air Jordan 1 Mid from the Fearless Collection, dressing the shoe in differing tonal graphics and color palettes inspired by the Chinese concept of Yin and Yang, seen on the peel-off uppers. On StockX, the shoe is making moves, having gained 214 sales at an average price of $440 — 243.6% over MSRP.
Part of Jordan Brand’s “Fearless Ones” collection, Edison Chen utilized his signature silk detailing. The upper is coated with silver woven silk and the body of the sneaker features a series of tonal graphics. Over time, the top layer of the shoe will wear away to reveal a black and gold premium leather construction — a notable touch from Edison Chen’s design thought. Additional details include a fade-away stitched Swoosh and Chinese coin reading “乔1,” which means Jordan 1 in Chinese. Rounding out the shoe is black flat laces, white midsoles, Jumpman tongue logos and contrasting red rubber along the outsole.
