Luna Ikuta to Release Black Nickel-Plated 'Daruma Dolls'
Polished to a self-reflection’s sheen.

As 2019 comes to a close, sculpture artist Luna Ikuta will release a black nickel-plated cast-iron Daruma Doll to aid resolution-making for 2020.
Ikuta is a LA-based multitalented sculpture artist who works primarily in metals and resin casting. Her latest take on the Daruma Doll sees a mirror-polished cast-iron iteration of the traditionally papier-mâché good luck charm. “This year the entire body is a polished black mirror reflecting your image. Establish your goals for 2020 and use this talisman to help see them through,” writes Ikuta. Additionally, this talisman of perseverance, good luck and wealth in Japan is weighted to match one’s ambition and will be released in an edition of 100.
Luna Ikuta’s black nickel-plated Daruma Dolls will be available for pre-order via the artist’s website from December 18, 9am PST, to December 25, with delivery shortly after official release in early January 2020.
