Stüssy to Open New Chapter Store in Milan
Designed by W&PA.
Stüssy will be opening the doors to its new Milano Chapter store soon. This announcement comes just after the soft opening of Hong Kong’s Chapter Store last week, adding yet another location to the imprint’s international Chapter network — London, Los Angeles, Seoul, Amsterdam, etc. Like the store in Hong Kong, this space was also conceptualized by design firm W&PA.
In a press release, W&PA shared some insight about the idea behind the interior architecture of the space: “Continuously evolving the Stüssy retail language of deconstructed basic materials, we kept familiar elements of the previous stores while at the same time introducing some new ones,” says co-founder Willo Perron. “The goal was always to combine different eras of modern design, from early modernism to postmodernism through the contemporary hybrids, to land at something that feels like California’s spirit of innovative adventurousness.”
The store opening comes with two exclusive T-shirts emblazoned with prints that nod to the city of Milan. The first piece includes a depiction of the Madonna of the Milan Cathedral, next to “Stüssy” branding. The back of the tee is kept rather minimal with “STÜSSY MILANO CHAPTER” printed around the back of the collar followed by an address below. The second T-shirt features an illustration of a pillar, propping up “STÜSSY MILANO” above it, while the store’s address is listed below. This motif is placed at the upper left chest at the front and repeated in large at the back.
A special launch party for the opening will take place at Spazio Maiocchi on November 15, with the support of Slam Jam. The Stüssy Milano Chapter Store will open its doors on November 16.
Elsewhere, fragment design and John Smedley have collaborated on crewneck essentials.
