Son Little Announces 'aloha' Album & Shares New Single "suffer"
The artist continues to exhibit his virtuous take on soul music.
Son Little, the moniker of LA’s Aaron Earl Livingston, has announced his new album aloha will be arriving early next year on January 31 via ANTI-. To celebrate the announcement, Livingston has shared a Daria Teller-directed video for the project’s new single “suffer.” His new project is said to blend “classic soul and old-school R&B,” bringing forth a unique combination of old and new via “gritty instrumental virtuosity and raw, raspy vocals.”
The new single carries forth with much of what the album is promised to showcase, whereby Motown-esque soundscapes are reworked for a contemporary audience. The instrumental sees a variety of emotions being expelled, from playful guitar riffs and shakes to heart-wrenching double bass strings throughout. As is expected from Son Little, the vocals carry forth his eclectic poetics, transforming careful wordplay into undisguised vocals that reflect on the trials of life.
