HYSTERIC GLAMOUR & WIND AND SEA Modernize '80s-Inspired American Staples
Graphic-heavy layers.

Back in July, we saw the Japanese label WIND AND SEA collaborating with Billionaire Boys Club for a logo-driven capsule. This time around the imprint is calling in HYSTERIC GLAMOUR for a concise set of casual staples that riff on the aesthetic styles of the ’80s. For a little background, WIND AND SEA was founded by Takashi Kumagai, a respected photographer in Japan who has become known for his multi-disciplinary approach to styling, branding and designing.
This particular collaboration features a series of garments like T-shirts, sweatpants, hoodies, varsity jackets, long-sleeves and other accessories like socks and hats. One highlight is a black stadium jacket, coming in a delicate wool textile with contrasting leather sleeves. The front of the piece is emblazoned with branding from both labels: HYSTERIC GLAMOUR’s graphic logo is placed on the right and “WIND AND SEA” is placed on the left. At the back, “SEA” is emboldened in large just above “HYSTERIC GLAMOUR.” Other details include monochromatic stripes at the hem and cuffs, while a large arm patch is placed on the left. The same patch is repeated on the hoodie. The piece follows a similar design scheme as the aforementioned jacket, detailed with the same logo placements, except with additional branding along the cuffs. Other garments in the capsule, like the sweatpants, long-sleeves, hats and caps, round up the concise assemblage.
The HYSTERIC GLAMOUR x WIND AND SEA 2019 Capsule will be available on November 23 at windandsea.jp and hystericglamour.jp as well as at WIND AND SEA’s Nakameguro store in Tokyo.
Elsewhere, ANREALAGE and Doublet will be releasing their reversible “BIG TAG” scarf.
