Slam Jam Engineers Minimalist New Balance 990v3 Collaboration

New Balance partners up with Milan’s Slam Jam to premiere a special edition 990v3 model, customized with New Balance’s NB1 program. The highly-limited sneaker marks the first of several collaborations between the brands.
With a grey upper dotted by black accents, this 990v3 was intended to look unfinished, with a quiet, monochrome palette mostly bereft of color. Tonal nubuck and mesh are interrupted by a splash of black suede near the ankle opening and grain leather heel panels finished with “made in U.S.A.” verbiage. A bespoke silver insole sports co-branding to match the complementary laces, offered in grey or bold red. The minimalist silhouette is completed with a midsole that boasts both white and cream panels.
Expect the bespoke New Balance 990v3 to go up for raffle on Slam Jam’s website October 9, with its launch set for October 12. The unique runner will only be offered in an edition of 89 pieces, reflecting the year that Slam Jam was founded to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
New Balance has dished out a variety of collaborations recently, including efforts with Junya Watanabe, Snow Peak and J. Crew.
