Capcom's 'Mega Man' Inspires Pixelated ASICS Gel-BND
Complete with 8-bit graphics.

ASICS and Capcom have joined forces for a special GEL-BND and apparel inspired by long-time hero Mega Man, or as he’s known in Japan, Rock Man. Debuting in 1987 during the golden years of 8-bit video gaming, Mega Man famously has the power to absorb his enemies’ powers after defeating them in combat. Both this amorphous capability and the colors of his robotic body provided the inspiration for the ASICS collection.
Boasting a two-tone blue patent leather upper that draws directly from Mega Man’s signature look, the Gel-BND also features soft yellow pixellated hits of branding on its medial-side quarter panels and throat. The tongues are split between a traditional ASICS graphic on the right shoe and Japanese Katakana spelling out “ASICS” on the left shoe. “GEL” is stamped on each heel in classic 8-bit style. Down below, a thick blue midsole provides both cushioning and a nod to Mega Man’s bulky metal feet. The shoebox continues the homage by using the artwork from the game’s original packaging.
To complement the thematic kicks, accompanying apparel consists of a french terry hoodie, three tees, and a nylon gym sack all replete with Mega Man branding. The graphics include text that translates to “All Boss No Damage,” a message displayed after a no-damage level clear and a pixellated graphic of Mega Man himself, complete with his new shoes on foot.
Capcom’s entire Mega Man collaboration will release on November 1 at Japanese retailers like BILLY’s Tokyo. Prices range from ¥3,500 JPY (approx. $32 USD) for the gym sack to ¥12,000 JPY (approx. $110 USD) for the shoes.
Elsewhere in the world of ASICS, they’ve equipped the hybrid GEL-Kayano 5 360 with shimmering silver accents.
