Yohji Yamamoto Distills Three Decades of adidas History in Y-3 FW19 Runway
Showcasing several new sneakers alongside the clothing.

Yohji Yamamoto and adidas’ collaboration goes back over a decade to 2003, so it makes sense for Yamamoto to trawl the archives for the Fall/Winter 2019 collection. Showcasing in a Garage in the center of Paris, the show was, as always, the youthful counterpart to the older proposition of Yohji’s own brand. The pulsating soundtrack provided the mood to the show, with models keeping a brisk pace and the show avoiding any unnecessary theatrics in front of the star-studded crowd that included the likes of Jonah Hill and Pusha T.
The clothes were typical Y-3, sporty, slim and straight to the point, but the star of the show is always the new sneakers and that continued to be the case this season. The ZX Torsion, a runner inspired by the 1984 ZX, FYW S-97, Manja, Hokori, Regu and Yuuto all made an appearance during the show.
