Officially released on September 28, 2018, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V served as its creator’s 12th studio album and delivered 21 new tracks to listeners, including collaborations with Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Swizz Beatz and others. Debuted on August 10 of last year, Nicki Minaj’s 19-track Queen LP featured contributions from The Weeknd, Eminem, Ariana Grande, Future, Metro Boomin, Mike WiLL Made-It, Zaytoven and others.
Following mixed reviews and some high-profile controversies, the aforementioned projects projects went platinum on Friday, January 11, 2019. Also noteworthy: both artists appeared on each other’s respective albums, and both Tha Carter V and Queen were released through Young Money Records.
