1/16/19: Filmmaker Jason Reitman recently took to Twitter to announce that he had acquired the “keys to the car” for a new Ghostbusters sequel.
The director, who actually starred in the original film as a panicked resident alongside his mother, is also the son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman. In a recent statement, he shared that the project “is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot,” also noting that he’s aiming for a Summer 2020 release. Reitman’s list of critically acclaimed comedies, including Juno, Up in the Air, and last year’s Tully, seems to be growing, giving us hopes for a high caliber sequel to the iconic film.
While we’re not sure of the details surrounding the film, such as whether or not the original cast will be involved, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for more information regarding the upcoming project.
