FACETASM FW19 Is a Celebration of Witchcraft & Wizardry
Muggles need not apply.

FACETASM took Paris Fashion Week with a particularly spellbinding show, dubbed “I’VE PUT チチンプイプイ ON YOU.” チチンプイプイ (“chichin ppuipui”) is a “magic spell” that Japanese parents chant to distract their children from crying over painful scrapes and bumps — transformed by designer Hiromichi Ochiai into a cast of witches and wizards.
The co-ed show showcased a hefty dose of deconstruction, as is normal for FACETASM, with the playfully witchy theme informing prints of owls and moths. Surprisingly, a Roger Rabbit print also appeared, along with a black metal-style FACETASM logo — these graphic accents only further underlined the visual chaos of bottle green velvet suiting, reversed trench coats, billowing multi-colored tulle dresses and shearling jackets transformed into scarves. Feather-like appliqué exploded out of hoodies and fleece erupted from varsity jackets, rendering the printed pajama sets, reclaimed football jerseys and cargo-pocketed hoodies tame by comparison.
