Billie Eilish announces her first studio album WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? will drop on March 29 via Darkroom/Interscope. The LP was written, produced and recorded entirely by the 17-year-old star alongside her brother Finneas in their childhood home of Highland Park, Los Angeles.

To go along with the album announcement, Eilish releases her new single “bury a friend,” an excellent record that plays to her strength, showcasing her uncompromising sound and vision. To accompany the single, she also drops the music video, which was directed by Michael Chaves.

“When we made ‘bury a friend,’ the whole album clicked in my head,” Billie explains. “I immediately knew what it was going to be about, what the visuals were going to be, and everything in terms of how I wanted it to be perceived. It inspired what the album is about. ‘bury a friend’ is literally from the perspective of the monster under my bed. If you put yourself in that mindset, what is this creature doing or feeling?” She continues. “I also confess that I’m this monster because I’m my own worst enemy. I might be the monster under your bed too.”

WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? follows up Billie Eilish’s 2017 debut EP dont smile at me, which featured the Vince Staples collaboration “&burn.” She previously released “you should see me in a crown” and “when the party’s over” in 2018 but dropped “When I Was Older” earlier this month, which will appear on the forthcoming record. The song was inspired by the Film ROMA.
