Aries & Jeremy Deller Celebrate Britain’s Neolithic History With New Capsule
“Make Archaeology Sexy Again.”
Fresh from unveiling its Spring/Summer 2019 lookbook earlier this month, London-based label Aries has revealed a collaborative capsule with artist Jeremy Deller. The capsule is to mark the launch of a new exhibition titled “Wiltshire B4 Christ” in partnership with David Sims. Both the exhibition and the accompanying collection take inspiration from Britain’s Neolithic history, and focus on themes including mysticism and pagan symbology.
The 30-piece capsule from Aries and Deller includes sweatshirts, shirting, and T-shirts, as well as socks, blankets, stickers and other merchandise. Graphics in the collection reference famous British historical sites including the Cerne Abbas Giant and Stonehenge, while text on pieces includes the phrases “Wiltshire B4 Christ” and “Make Archaeology Sexy Again.”
Speaking about the collection, Aries founder and creative director Sofia Prantera explained that “as a society we might have lost religion, but a return to paganism and spirituality seems to offer a new way to connect with others, to congregate, which I am hoping this project can explore and deliver.”
The exhibition is set to open at London’s The Store X on January 16, and will run until Sunday 27. The accompanying capsule will release at the Aries web store and Dover Street Market locations around the world on January 18.
