Mugen Releases Its Take on the Civic Type R
Called the Mugen RC20GT.
Mugen has just released the images to its concept for Honda‘s Civic Type R that was unveiled at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon. While the Honda Civic‘s 306 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque are left untouched, it’s in the aero department where the RC20GT receives the Mugen makeover.
The first thing most will notice is that the front bumper has been changed to a full carbon fiber version that’s complete with racing canards, and matched with a wide-open grille. The carbon pieces also make their way to the rear bumper, framing a new single-outlet exhaust opening. While the aero styling is either going to be hit or miss for many, we can agree on the handling components Mugen has added to the Type R. Mugen adds Pro-Spec adjustable coilovers along with a beefier Brembo caliper/slotted disc combo, all tucked inside larger 20-inch forged wheels.
What do you think? Did Mugen get the Honda Civic Type R right with this concept?
