After a few teasers and a witty tweet from HBO, the American premium cable network has finally revealed the exact air date for Game of Thrones‘s eighth season, along with a new minute-and-a-half teaser trailer.
Shared during the premiere of True Detective Season 3, the final season of GoT will drop on April 14. Fans have been waiting patiently for the return of the fantasy, which last aired in 2017. Game of Thrones Season 8 will only run six episodes long, however each chapter is expected to have similar runtimes of a feature film and include the biggest battle sequences that have ever been filmed.
Although many viewers won’t know what to do after GoT‘s eighth season concludes, HBO is already working on a prequel series, which will take a look at the origins of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East, and the Starks of legend.
Check out the marketing tweets below and tune into HBO on April 14 for the premiere of Game of Thrones. In the meantime, this new clip shows Daenerys arriving in Winterfell.
In more entertainment news, David Chase confirmed that a young Tony Soprano will feature in prequel movie.
