Opting for prints that are more eye-catching than those of the Spring collection, the Italian fashion house Marni debut its Fall/Winter 2019 collection at the Milan Fashion Week. The runway show took place in a black box inside an industrial building with a remix of Claude Debussy’s “Prélude à l’Après-Midi d’un Faune” playing in the background.

According to Vogue the label’s creative director, Francesco Risso, pays tribute to the emerging “neuro-tribe movement” and with the new aesthetic, he intends to recreate the looks of “atypical kids, extravagant and not diagnosable types.”

Featuring oversized suits and satin shirts, the collection is dominated by clashing colors and psychedelic, animal prints. Wool and mohair jumpers are one of the highlights of the season. Standing out of a crowd, the distressed jumper in a conventional, argyle pattern gets a “wild animal” makeover by incorporating a polychromatic, leopard print sleeve. Pairing with the wide leg pants, most looks finish off with python boots or overly-tasseled loafers.
