Fondation Louis Vuitton Spotlights Jean-Michel Basquiat & Egon Schiele for New Exhibit
The pair “became major figures in the art of their century.”

This past July, Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris announced its upcoming Jean-Michel Basquiat retrospective to launch this fall. Now, the premier institution previews select works from the legendary artist alongside pieces for a concurrent show of the late Austrian painter, Egon Schiele, who was the protégé of Gustav Klimt.
The two exhibitions entitled “Egon Schiele - Jean-Michel Basquiat” aim to explore the lives of the pair who have both died at the age of 28. “In under a decade, they became major figures in the art of their century,” said Fondation Louis Vuitton. “They are linked by their destiny and their fortune, that of a short-lived body of work, the impact, and permanency of which have few equals.”
Take a look at select works above and head over to Fondation Louis Vuitton’s website to learn more. Both shows will run through October 3 until January 14, 2019. In other art news, CIFF announced its new “ENLIGHTENMENT” exhibition spotlighting Virgil Abloh, Naomi Campbell, Peter Saville, and Nick Knight.
