Apple Music Is Launching Personalized Playlists of Your Friends' Favorite Songs
“Friends Mix” is rolling out in September.

Following Tim Cook’s criticisms of Spotify, Apple Music is set to roll out a new “Friends Mix” personalized playlist feature. Rather than working solely with editorial choices or Apple’s algorithms, the “Friends Mix” will collate the songs that your friends have been listening to recently.
The playlist does use some algorithms, however, with the music from your friends chosen to reflect your own tastes. The 25-track playlists are rumored to update every Monday, based on the music that your friends have been listening to on Apple Music over the previous seven-day period. At the moment the feature is in testing, with only some users having access to it. “Friends Mix” is due to hit all Apple Music accounts this September.
Earlier this year, Apple Music eclipsed Spotify in terms of U.S. paid subscribers.
