A Rare 18K Gold Rolex "Paul Newman" Daytona Just Hit the Market
One of five examples to ever hit the market.
Paul Newman‘s beloved Rolex Daytona watches have made huge impressions at auctions, racking up sale prices of $3,717,906 USD and $17,752,500 USD just last year. Now, an 18K yellow gold Daytona 6264 in the style preferred by the legendary actor has surfaced for sale, with a comparatively affordable price tag of £1 million GBP (approximately $1.3 million USD).
Though this watch wasn’t actually owned by Newman, it carries the vintage characteristics that the actor sought out in watches, which make it particularly uncommon; it’s only the fifth 6264 of this style to ever hit the market. Well-preserved and in excellent condition, the timepiece sports a unique lemon dial indicative of its age. Experts refer to the watch’s pump pushers and lack of any Oyster branding as a confirmation that it’s one of Rolex’s earlier 6264 models, produced in the brief span between 1969 and ‘72.
