LeBron James' No. 23 Lakers Jersey Is Already Selling out
The King is in town.
Over the weekend, basketball fans were somewhat shocked when LeBron James agreed to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers. Though rumors of his move to the West coast have been circulating for some time now, Klutch Sports Group reported that James has agreed to a four-year, $154 million USD contract with the Lakers.
Slated to don the ubiquitous gold and purple colorway of the L.A. team, LeBron’s No. 23 (the famed number also worn by Michael Jordan during his time with the Chicago Bulls) jerseys are already selling out. Quickly after LeBron’s move was announced, the official NBA store, operated by Fanatics, started pre-selling blank LeBron James jerseys with a double zero, which have already seen depleted stocks of the home, away and alternate versions.
Though official LeBron Lakers merch cannot be shipped until July 6, when James officially signs with the Lakers, that hasn’t stopped pre-orders to skyrocket. According to reports, within a three-hour span, (9 p.m. to midnight EST) LeBron’s Lakers jersey on NBA’s official online store made it into the top 10 of single-day NBA jersey sales. That three-hour window also surpassed James’ return to the Cleveland Cavaliers four years ago by 600%, according to a Fanatics spokesperson.
Head over to NBA.com and Fanatics.com now to purchase your LeBron James Lakers jersey. And in case you’ve missed it, LeBron James will be joined by Lance Stephenson and JaVale McGee in L.A.
