Drake's 'Scorpion' Breaks One-Week U.S. Streaming Record in 3 Days
The previous holder was Post Malone’s ‘Beerbongs & Bentleys.’
To the surprise of few, Drake has broken yet another record. In a report from Billboard and Chart Data, the Toronto rapper’s new album Scorpion has broken the record for the most US streams in a single week in just three days. The album, which was released on Friday, June 29, has already gotten 435 million on-demand streams – and that number does not include today, July 2.)
Scorpion is projected to close off its first week with 725-775k album equivalent units; Billboard predicts that it will earn over 700 million streams in the US by the end of the tracking week (July 5.) The album is forecasted to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. At this rate, it will be his eighth No. 1 release in a row. Post Malone’s Beerbongs & Bentleys was the previous record holder. The album amassed 431.3 million streams in the week ending May 3.
