Chance the Rapper & "Sunday Candy" Singer Jamila Woods Pay Tribute to Chicago on "LSD"
An ode to Chicago and Lake Shore Drive.

Singer-songwriter Jamila Woods stole the spotlight with her outstanding performance on Chance the Rapper‘s single “Sunday Candy” and Coloring Book standout “Blessings.” Returning the favor, Chance himself connects with Woods for her brand new record “LSD.” Paired up to pay tribute to their hometown of Chicago, this tripped-out, soulful ode to The Windy City’s title doesn’t stand for the drug. Instead, “LSD” stands for the Chicag’s Lake Shore Drive. Breaking down “LSD” to FADER, Jamila Woods shared the following:
“When I was a kid, getting on Lake Shore Drive from the south side to go downtown was magical. I lived on the east coast for a few years and people would laugh when I told them we have beaches and a lake we can swim in. I always wanted to write about that. A lot of people get Chicago wrong. I’ve developed this protective feeling about how we’re portrayed, and at the same time I’m acutely aware of the issues we face and the root causes of these issues. It’s important to me that there’s not just one story told about our city. LSD is an ode to Chicago, a song for the complicated love I have for my city.”
You can stream “LSD” below. This new song is being released as the lead single in support of Jamila Woods’ new project HEAVN, which will see release through Closed Sessions and also boasts contributions from Donnie Trumpet.
