Blue Blue Japan SS19 Offers Handmade Summertime Essentials
Indigo dye, sashiko stitching and boro patchwork.
Blue Blue Japan brings its handmade craft ideologies to Spring/Summer 2019’s warm climes with a variety of covetable items. In line with the brand’s Fall/Winter 2018 range, the new collection reveals an expansive range of accessible silhouettes bolstered by hand-applied indigo dye. Patchwork-heavy pants, printed shirts, relaxed tees, scarves, bucket hats and more receive the laborious treatment, yielding a wide range of disparities between each item. Orange parkas, shorts, tees and blazers contrast neatly with the mostly muted range of deep navy goods, with items ranging from traditional-leaning yukata shirts to texture-rich suiting. Lightweight cottons and linens give the release an air of organic humility, while bold dip dyes and tie dyes ensure that the clothing is anything but understated.
Elsewhere in Japan, visvim spotlighted the time-intensive katazurizome dye process.
