The 'Sonic The Hedgehog' x PUMA Collaboration Finally Has a Release Date
The Sonic and Dr. Eggman-inspired shoes are nearly here.
After a first look at the hotly anticipated collaboration, PUMA and SEGA have revealed the pair of reimagined sneakers in all their glory. The two sneakers take cue from Sonic the Hedgehog and his nemesis, Dr. Eggman, resulting in a pair of cleverly reworked shoes.
Centering around the PUMA RS-0 silhouette, both sneakers feature nods to the characters that inspired them. The Sonic-influenced shoe features a textured suede that recalls Sonic’s blue fur, with a red outsole to mirror his iconic footwear. Nods to the games’ gold rings appear on the lace tips and tongue tag, with a 16-bit grass print on the heel as a nod to the Green Hill Zone. Meanwhile, Dr. Eggman’s shoe boasts a colorway inspired by his red jacket, with caution stripes and metallic detailing informed by his robotic creations. Both sneakers will include a box inspired by the Green Hill Zone level as well.
Look for the pair of remastered shoes to launch on June 5. Meanwhile, the sneaker company recently introduced an eye-grabbing “Red Dahlia” iteration of its Jamming Cushion silhouette.
