The Jungle Book is set to take a dark turn in the upcoming film, Mowgli. Today, the spinoff’s first trailer arrives and places viewers in the world of Mowgli’s wild upbringing. Raised by a pack of wolves within the Indian jungles, the young boy is taken in by a panther and bear — Bagheera and Baloo, respectively. Unfortunately Mowgli hasn’t convinced the jungle’s aggressive tiger, Shere Khan, that he fully belongs. The film sees the catchy songs put to the side as we get into the grit behind Mowgli’s struggle for acceptance and survival in the jungle.

Take a look at the first trailer for Mowgli above and look for it to hit theaters on October 19.
