'Fortnite' Has Added the Viral "Orange Shirt Kid" Dance Emote
Another victory for the internet.
Epic Games announced a Boogie Down contest in March that asked players to submit dance moves to the Fortnite devs, where the winner would have the moves added as an in-game emote. A winner was eventually chosen, but fans fell in love with the twenty-third place entry from @Kid_Fortnite12 instead, who was henceforth dubbed “Orange Shirt Kid.”
The video took on a life of its own, with its views eventually surpassing those of the first place winner. People began to make memes out of it, attaching the dance to various songs, to the point that Epic Games just couldn’t ignore its soaring popularity. As part of Fortnite‘s new 4.0 season update, Epic Games officially added Orange Shirt Kid’s dance as an emote called “Orange Justice.”
The emote can be unlocked on tier 26 unless you buy the Battle Pass, which comes with the new emote. It’s flavor text even reads “It’s also a great exercise move,” a nod to the kid’s sign-off in the video.
Fortnite players, rejoice.
In related news, mobile is set to make up half of all gaming revenue for the first time ever.
