Russell Westbrook Makes NBA History in Final Game of the Season
Call him Mr. Triple-Double.
Last season Russell Westbrook joined Oscar Robertson in an elite class of players to average a triple-double in an entire NBA season. Last night Westbrook rewrote history by becoming the first NBA player to average the same stats in two full seasons. Before this season’s final game against the Memphis Grizzlies, he was 16 rebounds away from securing the average once more. Westbrook contributed 6 points, 20 rebounds and 19 assists to match his 2016-2017 MVP season.
The game concluded with a 137 to 123 victory with the Oklahoma City Thunder locked in as the Western Conference’s fourth-best team. They’ll square off against the Utah Jazz on April 15 to kick off the first round of this year’s NBA Playoffs.
