Nike Transfers Classic Mercurial Graphics to Its Air Max 270 Silhouette
Celebrating 20 year’s of the iconic football boot.
To celebrate 20 years of its iconic Mercurial football boot, Nike is set to release a string of Air Max 270 colorways with graphics inspired by the cleats. The colorways include a remake of the 1998 Mercurial — which was made famous by Ronaldo in that year’s world cup — with the boot featuring the classic blue and yellow wave pattern.
There will also be recreations of the purple and orange 2010 Mercurial Vapor Superfly II (worn by Cristiano Ronaldo), the yellow and blue 2006 Mercurial Vapor III and the grey and volt green 2002 Nike Mercurial Vapor. As well as transferring the colors and graphics on to the Air Max 270, Nike will also allow buyers to use these iconic designs on the Vapor and Superfly football boots. All of the boots are available now from the Nike web store.
This is the latest 20th anniversary celebration of the Mercurial, with previous releases including the “What the Mercurial?” capsule, as well as collaborations with Kim Jones and Virgil Abloh.
