Nike is updating its archival running lineup with the upcoming Air Max 90 SP “Black Leather”. The streamlined iteration swaps the model’s signature layered construction for a minimalist, leather-centric design reminiscent of past NikeLab projects.
Instead of relying on the model’s usual combination of mesh, leather, and plastic overlays, the upper is built primarily from smooth black leather. Nike employs precise stitching to trace out the Swoosh, mudguard, and side panels directly on the surface, creating a much sleeker finish. The standard plastic eyestays and molded Nike Air heel badge have also been substituted with perforated leather, while a tonal logo on the tongue and black laces complete the upper.
Below, the tooling retains the standard Air Max 90 midsole and visible heel cushioning. A faint blue tint sits inside the Air window, set against an otherwise all-black midsole and rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Max 90 SP “Black Leather” is expected to release in Fall 2026 through Nike and select retailers for $150 USD.
