The West Coast star continues to break boundaries and blend genres.
An unapologetic boundary-breaker, Watts rebel 03 Greedo continues to subvert the rules of genre with a melodic, and sinister new single known as “Fortnite.’
Lyrically, the Taz Taylor-produced “Fortnite” is a loosely-wound, erratic exercise in irreverence and braggadocio; there’s nods to his exceptionally-skilled management and creative team — TK and Picasso are the next Top Dawg and Punch — daps to the media outlets that support him the strongest, and flipped middle fingers to those trying to weaponize their Twitter fingers over his Tupac Shakur comments. Most notably, the stream-of-consciousness flows employed by The Wolf of Grape Street on “Fortnite” sound like the logical continuation of the free-wheeling, free-form styles brought to life by fellow rap agnostics like Young Thug. However, for those of us on the editorial side of HYPEBEAST‘s music operations, our favorite bars come in around the 2:47 mark.
