With Tokyo Fashion Week now under way, the first day brought out the city’s fashion elite for a schedule that included shows from AMBUSH® and FREIKNOCK. This season’s event also saw a number of fashion week calling cards — including big logos and statement footwear — make an appearance in the street style.

Key brands included Gosha Rubchinskiy, Gucci and Helmut Lang, while attendees steered clear of the ubiquitous chunky sneakers in favor of more classic footwear options, including the iconic Maison Margiela Tabi boots. One of the key themes from this season’s Tokyo Fashion Week was an unconventional approach to styling, with the most noticeable examples including chest-high jeans and a pants-over-trousers look.

Take a look through the images above, and then check out some of the best street style from Prague Fashion Week.
