CHVRCHES Drop Third 'Love Is Dead' Single, "Never Say Die”
The song represents everything the band is about.
Fresh off the release of a stripped-down cover of Beyonce’s “XO,” CHVRCHES have served up the third single in support of their forthcoming studio album, Love Is Dead.
Titled “Never Say Die,” the latest from the group follows songs such as last month’s “My Enemy” and January’s Matt Berninger-assisted “Get Out.” According to CHVRCHES’ Lauren Mayberry, “Never Say Die” embodies what her band is all about: “the mixture between the dark and the light.”
“‘Never Say Die’ is one of my favorite songs on the record because it really leans into the juxtaposition of what we do,” reads a press statement from Mayberry. “It’s melodic and direct but uses some of the gnarliest sounds we’ve ever tried.”
“Never Say Die” was also one of the very first songs CHVRCHES created during the first Love Is Dead recording sessions. “The chorus lyric came about very quickly but the verses took a lot longer. I really wanted to sum up a feeling of trying to be optimistic when you feel disillusioned by the people around you, but trying to keep going because ‘Goonies Never Say Die’,” Mayberry shares.
