Stormzy Performs an Emotional Rendition of Kanye West's "Ultralight Beam"
The grime star’s anticipated debut album is almost here.

After years of building quite the name for himself in the international music scene and earning a handful of awards, talented grime star Stormzy will finally release his anticipated debut studio album next Friday, February 24. Dubbed Gang Signs & Prayer, the LP will feature songs such as the recently-released single “Big For Your Boots” and collaborations with artists such as MNEK, Raleigh Ritchie, Kehlani and others.
Currently in the process of promoting the project, the #Merky Records talent stopped by the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge for a Q&A session and performance. Joined by a cadre of gospel singers and studio musicians, Stormzy delivered a striking, unique rework of Kanye West’s Life of Pablo standout “Ultralight Beam.” “This song means a lot to me,” explained Stormzy. ““I love the message of the song. I love the musicality of the song. It’s one of my favorite songs … it’s a song that inspires me.”
