Watch the Intense Teaser Trailer for the Final Season of 'The Leftovers'
Worldwide floods and mass chaos ensue.
2017 marks three years since HBO released the very first episode of The Leftovers. If you haven’t yet been initiated, the instant cult TV show centers upon a worldwide upheaval in which 140 million people suddenly vanish into the ether. More specifically, the show focuses on the locals of Mapleton, New York and how certain individuals, as well as fledgling factions such as the notorious Guilty Remnant, deal with the unexpected ruination. The protagonist of the show is police chief Kevin Garvey, played by actor Justin Theroux. Garvey makes multiple, desperate attempts to preserve solace between community members and GR devotees whilst maintaining his sanity in the midst of all the chaos.
Well then, there’s your intro in a nutshell, and now unto the recently unveiled teaser that gives fans a glimpse of what’s to occur in the final installment. The one-minute video is ridiculously anxiety-inducing, to say the least. While the first season took viewers to Mapleton and the second got us settled in Texas, the third is set to take place in Australia. Not to mention, Garvey sports a feral beard, worldwide floods ensue, and there are also several flashbacks to the era of Puritanism — which makes sense given the entire narrative of the series is laser-focused on the aforesaid rapture.
Watch the teaser above and expect the third and final season of The Leftovers to premiere on HBO this April 16. If you haven’t watched the show, give it a shot and let us know what you think.
