Nendo & Zens Collaborate on Minimalist Homeware Capsule
Split into three different categories.
Japanese design studio Nendo has linked up with Chinese brand Zens for a collection of understated furniture and homeware accessories. The capsule is split into three sections, with “Picto,” “Chirp” and “Stone” representing the different influences on different pieces of the collection.
The pieces in “Picto” takes inspiration from Japanese and Chinese writing. This mini-capsule is made up of pieces of metal furniture, with the pieces transforming into a stool, shelf, side table and display piece when combined with a triangular base. The second set — named “Chirp” — is inspired by birds sitting on a telephone line, and includes display pieces that can be used to hold flowers or plants.
For the final collection, “Stone,” Nendo has created a line of houseware pieces including a coffee set, a Chinese tea set and a plate. All of these pieces come with round, ovular lids that are made of silicon and can be used for different things including a coffee filter or a tea strainer. All of the collection can be carried around in a tower, which references the Zen art of stone balancing.
