McLaren Special Operations Covers the Senna in Carbon Fiber
The theme that will appear at Geneva Motor Show.
McLaren presented its road-legal track car Senna ahead of the Geneva Motor Show – one of the five themes will be a bespoke “Carbon Theme” showcased at the event. With a Carbon Black Alcantara interior trim and carbon fiber exterior, its body is covered with 67 Visual Carbon Fiber parts that took 1,000 hours to produce. It’s Solar Yellow and Laurel Green details on its black weave are inspired by 1 Legend Ayrton Senna’s helmet.
Although all 500 examples of the vehicle are already claimed, this theme will add roughly $415,000 USD to its already staggering $1.04 million USD price tag. McLaren will also offer lightweight MSO 7-Spoke Hybrid Carbon Fiber wheels with a center lock feature that reduces weight by 10 percent and rolling inertia by 10 to 15 percent, delivering improved breaking and steering response. McLaren Special Operations Managing Director Ansar Ali has stated:
“The McLaren Senna customers in the process of specifying their own, personalized cars are almost without exception commissioning an elevated level of MSO content, so we are definitely appealing to our target audience. With the car having generated so much interest since its unveiling in December, we knew we needed to produce something very special in order to showcase the unique talents of McLaren Special Operations.”
